Indoor Air Quality on the List for Higher Ed Relief Funding
Federal stimulus dollars will soon be used to help buoy Minnesota’s colleges and universities that have been struggling financially due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that the state’s higher ed entities will receive more than $300 million in COVID-19 relief funds from the U.S. government.
The dollars will be split several ways: student support (e.g., mental health services, tuition assistance); institutional upgrades including indoor air filtration systems and PPE supplies; and a large sum to help institutions recover from budget deficits. For example, the article cites Hamline University investing its $4 million allocation on student services and support programs as well as safeguards such as air purification systems and masks.
