ISO-Aire HEPA Air Purifier FAQs
What is ASHRAE’s and the CDC’s stance on air purifiers?
ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers) is the leading group focused on researching and guiding HVAC design and construction. The ASHRAE document on strategies for COVID-19 recommends using portable in-space HEPA filtration systems for the capture and destruction of biological aerosols, with a minimum of 2 air changes per hour for classrooms. The CDC is also recommending the use of in-space standalone HEPA filtration systems.
How do ISO-Aire commercial air purifiers work?
ISO-Aire commercial air purifiers a long-life, air purification solution with up to three levels of protection. Designed with power-driven and proven components including a powerful yet efficient fan, a medical-grade 99.99% HEPA (High-efficiency Particulate Air) filtration, optional ozone-free needlepoint bipolar ionization (NPBI) and/or germicidal UVC. Together they eliminate 99.99% of potentially harmful airborne particulates such as viruses, bacteria, mold, and pollen and other harmful airborne contaminants. ISO-Aire offers commercial facilities, schools and homeowners peace of mind knowing their employees, students, customers and family have from harmful airborne particles.
Why should air purifiers pull air from the bottom?
Pulling contaminated air low and discharging clean air high ensures proper air distribution and circulation in the space so that contaminants are pulled out of the breathing zone.
How quiet are ISO-Aire HEPA air purifiers?
ISO-Aire purifiers provide best in class noise levels due to their quiet and efficient design. Our air purifiers are typically 2x quieter than competitor units (every 10 dBA is a doubling of noise). Ideal for classrooms, patient rooms, offices and more, the units provide the proper CFM output while not disrupting the space placed in. Depending on size and CFM output, the units range from 35 dBA up to 48 dBA for classrooms and medium size areas, and 50 dBA to 60 dBA for large areas like gymnasiums and cafeterias.
How does an ISO-Aire air purifier differ from a unit I would buy at a home improvement store?
The ISO-Aire commercial air purifier is a purpose-built system with the CFM and capability to properly purify indoor air while providing some of the quietest units available on the market. The air purifier is able to clean far more air than the smaller units offered at major retailers and properly distribute it, achieving better real world effectiveness. An energy efficient and powerful fan allows for a higher CFM and CADR, a much larger and medical-grade filter that is able to filter at higher efficiencies for far longer (lasts 5 to 6 years) than smaller units. ISO-Aire is also available with ozone-free bipolar ionization and UVC sterilization for great air purification capability. Lastly, the commercial construction will increase the return on investment over the lifetime of the unit and ensure reliable operation for many years.
What prompted the filtration system’s development?
The powerful ISO-Aire filtration system was purpose-built to address COVID-19 and other droplet and/or airborne-based infections in healthcare settings. It was created to adhere to stringent isolation room requirements and safely protect patients and staff and then later developed to be used for commercial settings.
What is a HEPA filter?
ISO-Aire uses a medical-grade HEPA filter that captures viruses, bacteria, smoke particles, allergens, pollen, mold and more. HEPA filters are extremely efficient and high end filters that trap far more particles than MERV-13 filters. This excellent filtration ability however makes HEPA filters difficult to retrofit in an existing HVAC system, which makes the ISO-Aire portable HEPA filtration system an easy way for any facility with or without ventilation to implement HEPA filtration into their space.
How does ozone-free bipolar ionization work?
The ozone-free, UL 2998 certified, needlepoint bipolar ionization used in the ISO-Aire unit discharges negative and positive ions into the space. These ions work in two ways, the first is by neutralizing pathogens like viruses and bacteria, VOCs and odors. The second is by causing particles to agglomerate and become larger in size, helping them fall to the floor out of the breathing zone or caught in a filter. By discharging the ions in the space through the ISO-Aire unit, this ensures high levels of ions. Ionization devices placed in the existing HVAC system or in the ductwork often aren’t able to properly ionize a space due to ions having a limited lifespan of about 60 seconds and being absorbed by the ductwork system.
How does germicidal UVC sterilization work?
UVC sterilization or otherwise known as germicidal UVC works by damaging the DNA or RNA of the pathogen so that it cannot reproduce. This renders it harmless. It is important with UVC to ensure proper exposure to ensure efficacy which is why we have designed the ISO-Aire system with the proper airflow speed and bulb intensity.
Where can ISO-Aire be used?
The commercial applications for this healthcare-grade clean air technology are limitless. Our units are protecting occupants in schools, offices, churches, dental offices, hair salons, fitness studios, and long-term care facilities while offer peace of mind to business owners, organization leaders, their employees, patients, and customers.
How do ISO-Aire HEPA air purifiers decrease the risk of inhaling harmful contaminants?
Microscopic particulates, such as Coronavirus molecules at .12 -.1 microns in diameter, can penetrate the lungs and bloodstream when inhaled, posing a dire threat to human health. ISO-Aire multi-filtration technology captures and destroys 99.99% of these contaminants. The maximized air flow performance is designed to continuously remove and destroy expelled microscopic airborne particulates through a tested recirculation method. ISO-Aire’s airflow system continuously pulls air and airborne contaminants and removes harmful aerosolized particles at the source.
Will the ISO-Aire air purifier system fit in my space?
Fortunately, the ISO-Aire is a versatile air filtration solution and can be configured to efficiently be installed in a variety of locations, even multi-room settings. Our air purifiers can be floor set on wheels or even hung depending on space and facility needs.
What models are available?
Air purification, carbon filtration for odors, fumes, VOCs, and smoke smell relief; and negative pressure models are available. Negative pressure models are designed to be used for creating isolation rooms environments in a healthcare application and can be created by ducting the purifier to the outside. Air purification/recirculation models are designed to clean the air in an indoor space to help protect employees and customers.
